Come July, it’s time for majority of political leaders from the Telugu states and also prominent Telugu personalities to fly to the United States of America to take part in the functions to be organised by Telugu associations which are vertically split on caste lines.
The annual events are being organised by North America Telugu Association (NATA) which is dominated by Reddys settled in the USA and Telugu Association of North America (TANA), comprising mostly bigwigs from Kamma community.
The NATA conference is going to be held at Dallas, TXT, from June 30 to July 2 and prominent Reddy politicians, industrialists and big business people from the community will be attending the conference. Needless to say, majority of the Reddy politicians are from the YSR Congress party.
Similarly, all prominent Kamma leaders, industrialists and big business people are heading towards Philadelphia to take part in the TANA conference to be held from July 7 to 9, at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre.
Some of the prominent people attending the TANA conference are Nandamuri Balakrishna, former chief justice of India N V Ramana and former Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu.
Of course, Telugu film stars representing the two communities would also be taking part in their respective conferences, adding glamour to the event. The more number of celebrities attending the event, the more will be the turnout at the events.
The two conferences are also said to be a sort of platform to silently campaign for the YSRCP and the Telugu Desam Party at their respective conferences.
Some sort of fund-raising campaign might also be done at these conferences for the two political parties, ahead of the next year’s assembly elections in Andhra!
