It is now official. Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the ruling party in Telangana and YSR Congress party, the main opposition in Andhra Pradesh, are all set to work together.
Following the directions of TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, a team of TRS leaders led by his son and party working president K T Rama Rao met Jagan at the latter’s Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad on Wednesday afternoon.
It will take some time for the details of confabulations between Jagan and KTR to come out, but it is pretty evident that both the parties have decided in principle to work together.
There is no clarity yet as to whether the TRS leaders will campaign for YSRC in Andhra or confine itself to running down Jagan’s arch rival and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu sitting in Hyderabad and if possible, extend financial support to the YSRC candidates, wherever necessary.
However, for the sake of media, the news is that the TRS is going to request the YSR Congress party to join the federal front proposed by KCR, so that a combined strength of TRS-YSRC MPs could play a big role at the national level.
From his side, Jagan might ask KCR to use his clout in the Centre, if necessary to write a letter to the Centre, on granting special category status to AP, besides implementing all assurances listed in AP State Re-organization act.
So, working together with the YSR Congress party seems to be the “return gift” which KCR had talked about during his first press conference held after the recent assembly elections.
While YSRC is desperate to defeat the TDP, KCR too wants the same to settle his scores with Naidu, who had joined hands with the Congress party in the recent assembly elections.
