It is nearly 11 months since the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government was formed in the newly carved State of Telangana, but one of the biggest promises of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of providing health cards to government employees has not been fulfilled yet.
The TRS government, which claims to be an employee-friendly regime, is still groping in the dark as to how to implement the poll promises.
Presently, it is mulling options on providing health cards to its staff on par with those working in Andhra Pradesh Government.
It is likely that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will take a final call on the issue, which is yet to begin despite pressure by the employees after formation of Telangana State.
Sources said the ceiling may see a hike to Rs 2.5 lakh from the current Rs 1 lakh if the TRS Government wants to replicate its AP counterpart.
It is learnt that the government will soon take a decision on the key issue even before it gears up its official machinery for the State Formation Day celebrations on June 2, which is just a couple months away.
According to the information, the minister asked the officials to expedite the process and issue health cards without any further delay.
The Government is committed to provide health cards and ensure that the employees get better medical services, the minister told them in the meeting.
