Around 40,000 students from AP have applied for the Telangana Eamcet., 30,000 in Medical stream and 10,000 in engineering stream.
They would be vying for some of the top colleges in Hyderabad and would be categorized in the 15% non-local category.
Perhaps this is the only instance in world history where the students would be categorized non-locals in their own capital city.
Looking at the figure of 40000 students who applied for the T-Eamcet, one Telangana official commented that the demand for seats in Telangana educational institutions was very much on and fears of decline in demand after bifurcation were uncalled for.
The premier medical and engineering colleges are located in Hyderabad and these colleges are in top position today mainly on account of the Seemandhra people.
Hence, there is nothing wrong in Seemandhra students applying for institutions developed by their people. Hyderabad today is nothing but for Seemandhra contributions.
Deep down, every Telanganite knows this; he just will not acknowledge it for obvious reasons. It is Hyderabad which is preferred by the students, not Telangana.
