The first Assembly sessions of newly formed Andhra Pradesh state have just concluded.
Media channels are replete with reports and analysis regarding the sessions and various discussions are still being held to dissect what transpired within the House.
United Andhra Pradesh with 23 districts is history. The newly formed Andhra Pradesh has 13 districts. But the Congress party does not have even 1 representative in the House. Yet, the Congress has a reason to celebrate.
Despite being wiped out during the general elections, the party is still in news thanks to TDP and YSRCP. Though the party is not represented in the Assembly, both TDP and YSRCP centered their discussions around the grand old party of Indian politics through-out the five-day session.
It is being said that the Congress party leaders are happy that their party continues to be in news though they are out of power.
If one looks at the proceedings, discussions mostly revolved around individual allegations and counter allegations involving the Congress party and late CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy, resulting in pandemonium in the House.
The main reason behind this is the fact that both TDP and YSRCP stood by the Congress when the party was in power. Though Jagan made tall claims that his party had the capacity to raze Congress party, he could not show his strength when the first no confidence motion was moved against Congress. When the no confidence motion was moved the second time, TDP supported the Congress. So, it is rather amusing to see both parties blaming each other vis-à-vis Congress.
Right now, Congress is non-existent in Andhra Pradesh. So, why rake up the past and centre all discussions on one party? The fact that both TDP and YSRCP appear to be oblivious to this fact is rather surprising.
It is time for both Chandra Babu and Jagan to let go of the past and ensure that the sessions are held smoothly to make sure that all focus is on development of Andhra Pradesh.
Even the main opposition party should collaborate with the ruling party on key issues for the welfare of the state and its people. This will help both the parties in the long run. Else, there is a possibility of the parties being voted when the time comes.
This apart, differences between opposition parties always work in favour of the ruling party. The Congress party is well aware of this scenario as it gained the most in united Andhra Pradesh. This time, with both the major parties fighting it out, the Congress is able to get mileage without having any representative in AP Assembly.
So, the Congress is enjoying the show and it hopes that the give and take continues between both the rival parties.
