If we ask a general question, who will hold the responsibility to strengthen and build the party? In fact, the answer will be, it is the leader of the party.
But how does it sound if the leader hires and employee to do that job? It raises doubts about what the leader will do then.
This is what is happening in YCP.
We all know that every political party has been depending on political strategists for the last 10 years. They work during elections in the name of surveys, suggesting fielding candidates, and campaign strategies. Even if that is not always welcomed, it can be understood to some extent.
But when a party loses and its leader employs someone to build the party, how should that be understood?
That leader is Jagan Mohan Reddy and the one who was hired in Mohan Sai Dutt.
Looking at his background, Mohan Sai Dutt worked with TDP for some time as a team member in Lokesh's camp during the last elections. Somehow things didn’t work out, and Lokesh's team parted ways with him. He has now joined YCP with the task of building the party.
How will the senior members of the party understand this move by Jagan Mohan Reddy? Should they be able to work with him? Can they report to Mohan Sai Dutt as he is now above all of them?
While these questions linger, some view this as a positive development, suggesting that Jagan made this decision to dilute Sajjala’s supremacy within the party.
"If Sajjala feels uncomfortable with Mohan, he might leave, which could be Jagan's intention", said an insider.
However, many do not believe this and argue that if Jagan truly wanted to get rid of Sajjala, he would do so directly rather than through indirect means. They believe this reflects Jagan's unchangeable mindset even after the recent electoral defeat, in the matter of bringing in outsiders to rule on the seniors in the party.
A senior leader of YCP from Uttarandhra shared with us: "Now Sajjala’s attempt will be to befriend Mohan Sai Dutt and keep him under his control. If Mohan is intelligent enough, he shouldn’t fall into Sajjala’s trap. Everybody in the party hates Sajjala, and everyone wants him out of the party. So if the young man Mohan Saidutt understands this situation, he can plan for his growth in the party. He can befriend all the YCP leaders, and kick out Sajjala. Thus he can truly enjoy supremacy in the party with a healthy atmosphere."
The big question for all YCP members is how a 33-year-old Mohan Sai Dutt can make a difference in building the party on behalf of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
