It seems like TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu is worried about his electoral prospects in his Kuppam Assembly constituency in Chittoor district.
In the 2019 general election, he was in the negative in the first three rounds of counting for the first time in the last three decades.
With great difficulty and a declining trend in the majority, Naidu won the 2019 general election.
While he won the seat with a 47,121 vote majority in the 2014 election, he managed to win the 2019 election with a reduced majority of 30,722 votes.
The majority had fallen to 16.93 per cent of votes in 2019 from 28.81 per cent in 2014.
However, the voter turnout was higher in 2019 than in 2014. While the voter turnout was 83.9 per cent in 2014, it had increased to 85.15 per cent in the 2019 general election.
This indicates a declining image of Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam, which he has represented since 1989.
Perhaps due to this decline, Naidu has started building a house for himself for the first time and is touring the constituency three to four times a year.
His son Lokesh toured three times, Bhuvaneswari toured twice, and Brahmani toured once, which has never happened before.
Now, Naidu has appointed newly elected MLC Kancharla Srikanth as incharge of the party in the Kuppam Assembly constituency.
He has also appointed a 32-member committee to take care of the party in the constituency and work for his victory, which has not been seen since 1989.
This gives people the impression that Naidu is afraid of losing in Kuppam in the next election!
