Do you know how much the AP CM is asking the Centre for construction of the new capital? Rs 20,000 crore and that is just in 'immediate assistance'. God only knows what the final figure would be.
Accordingly, the state government had submitted a tentative master plan to the Centre seeking immediate financial aid.
“The AP government has sought Rs 20,000 crore by the closure of this financial year for the construction of the core capital. We would need the same for the construction of the assembly, secretariat, Raj Bhavan, residential quarters of ministers, officials and legislators, internal roads, parks, hospitals, schools, underground drainage system, drinking water etc. These funds can be released under various heads,” said officials.
Does Naidu take the BJP for a fool? How can he expect the Center to release that kind of amount without a proper and pucca master plan? How can the Union government sanction that amount on the basis of a ‘tentative’ master plan?
And this is assuming that the land pooling process is completed in a smooth manner without the intervention of the judiciary or resistance from the farmers. Every time that Naidu meets the Union government Ministers or Modi, he asks them for thousands of crores. No wonder if this is the reason why they have stopped taking him seriously.
Naidu pegged the entire losses due to ‘Hudhud’ at Rs 67000 crore to the Center. Modi came to Vizag, sanctioned Rs 1000 crore and left. The State government has so far received only around Rs 600 crore of the Rs 1000 crore.
