The supremo of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, has brought attention to the situation of land values in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh following the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
KCR stated that land values in Telangana have seen a significant rise due to the rapid development achieved by the Telangana State under the TRS government regime in the past nine years. On the other hand, land values in Andhra Pradesh have experienced a decline during the same period.
KCR made these remarks during a public meeting in Patancheru on Thursday.
KCR was referring to recent comments made by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), who stated that previously, if one acre of land was sold in Andhra Pradesh, they would be able to purchase 10 acres in Telangana with the same amount. However, according to Naidu, the situation has now reversed in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
KCR stated that an acre of land in Patancheru currently fetches Rs 30 crore, which, according to Naidu's calculations, would enable a person to buy 100 acres in Andhra Pradesh.
KCR's comments have sparked a debate in political circles regarding who he was targeting. Was it former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu or the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy?
After the state's bifurcation, Naidu governed Andhra Pradesh for five years, while Jagan recently completed four years as the Chief Minister.
Naidu raised the issue of land values two days ago during the TDP general body meeting held at Amaravathi, criticizing the Jagan government for the decline in land prices in Andhra Pradesh due to what he termed as "zero development" under the YSRCP regime in the past four years.
However, the question arises as to why KCR has brought up this issue now. Is it to target both Naidu and Jagan for not developing Andhra Pradesh on par with Telangana, as he claims to have done in the past nine years? Or is he specifically targeting either Naidu or Jagan?
Different conclusions are being drawn by political circles on this matter, and only KCR can provide clarity and answer this question someday.
