If Babu Can't, Can His Ministers?

If Babu Can't, Can His Ministers?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu is making some strange statements these days. Of course, one can attribute it to the work pressure, read his constant trips abroad and the fact that he is not yet operating from his state, though Hyderabad was meant to be the common capital for a decade.

So, reasons apart, Babu’s latest statement has once again raised many eyebrows in political circles. He has instructed his ministers to go to Delhi and seek funds for their respective departments. Apparently, he told the ministers during the cabinet meeting that he can no longer go all by himself and ask for aid from Centre.

Coming from the Chief Minister, it is indeed thought-provoking. However, it has become quite evident that Babu no longer enjoys the same camaraderie he once enjoyed and he is unable to get things moving in Delhi like in the past.

Naturally, that could have led to his disappointment and one can conclude that his comments resonate with his inner feelings.

Incidentally, during Vajpayee’s term, Babu had much clout at the Centre. He would get his way or would claim so whenever he came back from a trip to Delhi. And it looks like he no longer enjoys that position now.

So, is he trying to push the responsibility on to his cabinet ministers? He might be vexed that nothing had transpired even after meeting with not one, but 11 cabinet ministers.

While his feelings are understandable, how will the ministers get funds where Babu himself has failed? However, like Babu says, there is no harm in ministers doing their bit.
