Chandrababu Naidu was a Congressman before he joined the TDP. So was YS Jagan before starting the YSRCP. And this is a common phenomenon right across India where politicians change parties at the slightest pretext and incentive.
But it is only in the BJP perhaps that the seniors continue with the party despite being comprehensively sidelined.
LK Advani, Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie, Murali Manohar Joshi etc do not figure in the scheme of things of Amit Shah-Modi combine. And while these people have expressed their resentment on occasions publicly, they have never ever contemplated quitting the party.
Maybe it’s because the party has the strength of ideology behind it. Maybe because they are from the old guard where politics was far more unsullied. Maybe they don’t have it in them anymore? Who knows? But it’s a remarkable feature indeed!
