At a time when Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is ruling the State virtually as a dictator, there are certain IAS officers who care a damn for him.
In a latest incident, senior IAS officer Suresh Chanda refused to entertain a file signed by KCR himself on giving posting to a couple of officers stating that it was against the rule book.
According to sources, the file pertained to some senior-level postings in Medical and Health & Family Planning.
While KCR ordered that Prof Chandrasekhar from a medical college be posted as the Managing director of Telangana Arogya Sri Trust and R Venugopal, joint director in Social Welfare department as the MD of Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
KCR approved the postings and sent the file to Suresh Chanda for issuing the GOs. However, the IAS officer bluntly rejected the file with his objections that both the posts should be held by only IAS officers.
In the normal course, it would have become a big news in the pro-KCR media had Suresh Chanda been from Andhra. But he happens to be from Uttarakhand; so, it did not see the light in the media.
However, it remains to be seen how long Suresh Chanda would remain in the Medical and Health department. In the past, too, this same IAS officer scuttled KCR’s plans to entrust laying of HT lines from Chhattisgarh to Telangana to a private party. Suresh Chanda then said the lines should be laid only by the government undertakings and not private companies. As a result, he was shunted out of the Energy department and posted in Medical and Health department. Now, he has become a thorn in KCR flesh here again!
