After bifurcation, it is a fact that the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh have lost a lot in the bargain.
Even post bifurcation, the entire government machinery is focused only on the capital city and that has left the state in the lurch. And much of the blame has to be taken by the ruling Telugu Desam Party for the present state of affairs in the state.
Though Chandra Babu had been talking of decentralization and has announced elaborate plans, nothing concrete has been happening on the front.
If the plans were to materialize, both the government officials and industrialists must believe in the dream collectively and the state must be able to attract investors from both neighbouring states and from abroad.
If that is to happen, then Babu and his team must project a positive image of the state and talk of creating a favourable environment for progress and development.
Instead, Babu, who calls himself the CEO of newly carved AP, has been crying hoarse about being in big trouble post bifurcation.
While such attitude is okay when he is dealing with the Centre, it is bound to put off foreign investors who are totally focused on profit margins.
So, it is for Babu to provide an atmosphere conducive for investors and in the process ensure that such investments benefit the people of the state. Babu also has the responsibility of making sure that public property is not usurped in the name of development.
Already, Chandra Babu has asked for Rs 4,00,000 crore aid from the central government. He once again made the same request to the officials from the Finance Commission. This is a step in the right direction, but the sooner Babu stops talking of his ‘problems’, the better for Andhra Pradesh.
