How Naidu Knew About Black Money Disclosure?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s statement that a Hyderabad-based individual declared black money worth Rs 10,000 crore to the Centre under Income Declaration Scheme (IDS-2016) out of Rs 13,000 crore declared from Hyderabad, has raised many an eye brow.

It was obvious that Naidu was targeting his political rival by making that statement. He went on to say that politics has become a shelter for corrupt people and black money earners; and wondered how a businessman could declared such a huge amount of black money.

He expressed regrets that the individual was planning to regularise all his black money in another two or three years.

“You just pay 40-45 per cent penalty and the rest becomes white. Isn’t that better? Nobody can question. Now, there will no social stigma as well,” Naidu said.

It was really surprising as to how Naidu came to know about the declaration of black money of Rs 10,000 crore by a Hyderabad-based individual, as according to law, the names or details cannot be disclosed. This is what YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy sought to know.

“The Centre has not released state-wise or region-wise or trade-wise break-up of income tax declation. How did Naidu come to know about it? Obviously, the person who declared such a huge amount should be closer to Naidu or must be his benami. If Naidu has the information, then all the people are also entitled to know the details,” Jagan argued in his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Some point in his argument, right?
