How did Jagan assess Naidu swearing-in cost?

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s criticism that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was spending more than Rs 30 crore worth of public money for his swearing-in ceremony at Guntur, has not gone down well with many people.

One wonders how Jagan had come to an estimate that the cost of swearing-in ceremony was more than Rs 30 crore.

According to official sources, the total expenditure, including arrangements for travel and stay of national leaders and other dignitaries, would not exceed Rs 5 crore. Unofficial sources said it would be around Rs 10 crore.

TDP leaders lashed out at Jagan for politicizing the swearing-in ceremony.

“The function is being organized in public only to give sort of confidence to the people of Seemandhra, who were dejected by bifurcation. It should not be viewed in monetary angle. In that case, how much money had Jagan spent on organizing massive rally from Chanchalguda jail to Lotus Pond, when he was released on bail last year?” the TDP leaders asked.

Another critic said Jagan would have spent much more public money on his swearing-in-ceremony, had he come to power.

“Nobody knows better than Jagan in displaying money power,” he argued.
