The TDP government’s decision to celebrate the formation day of AP on June 2 is a bit baffling. It was Telangana that was carved out of Andhra Pradesh and not vice-versa.
AP has always celebrated its formation day on November 1. So, why change it to June 2, which is a day of celebration for those Telanganites?
Naidu says that June 2 will be remembered with heavy hearts by the Telugu people and will also spur Andhra People to prove they are better.
On one occasion, Naidu says that AP cannot compete with Telangana as the latter is a revenue surplus state whereas AP is not getting any assistance from the Center and is facing a revenue deficit of nearly Rs 17000 crore.
On the other hand, he wants June 2 to be the symbol of a new resurgent state. There is absolutely no need to change the formation day of AP. Changing it to June 2 is like celebrating a birthday on a death anniversary.
