How Can Capital Be Built With Rs 5,000 Crore?

The amount of Rs 5,000 crore offered by the Centre for construction of new capital for Andhra Pradesh State has baffled many political leaders.

CPI (M)  Andhra Pradesh unit Secretary and former MP Madhu felt that it was not possible to construct new capital for  the State with Rs.5,000 Crores, which was offered by the Centre.

He said that Andhra Pradesh government should bring pressure on the Centre for funds for development of the capital, with the help of all political parties.

He strongly criticized the Government for inviting investments under Private Public Partnership (PPP) as the Centre failed to provide adequate funds for setting up of the capital.

After bifurcation of the state, the assurances of the Centre to Andhra Pradesh have turned as empty promises. The BJP government at the Centre, which promised to provide special status to AP and extend help for its reconstruction, was now keeping silent.

He demanded that the BJP should fulfill the promises made earlier to Andhra Pradesh State. Even BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu was not giving clarity on it, he regretted.
