Hidden Agenda Behind Household Survey In T State?

The TRS government is planning not only to ascertain how many poor families live in the new state by conducting a household survey on August 19, but is also aiming to know how many non-Telangana people live in the Greater Hyderabad region and other districts.

The idea of ascertaining the nativity of the residents during the survey appears to have been an afterthought. In the first questionnaire that the Telangana government prepared for the survey, there was no question on nativity . But in the revised questionnaire that made the rounds of the media on Thursday, a new question (No. 21) has been added.

The question has three parts: 1) From which state have you come?; 2) What language do you speak and 3) When did you come here?.

While these questions may give an idea as to how many non-Telugu people live in Telangana, it will not be able to establish how many people from the Seemandhra region live here.

“If the purpose of the survey is to verify how many people from the coastal Andhra districts and Rayalaseema region live in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, then the enumerator might have to orally ask a person from which district he or she hails from,“ said sources.

Meanwhile, in another change in the survey, the question number 8, which asked a resident what kind of ration card he possessed, has been deleted in the second draft of the questionnaire.
