In the whole of Andhra Pradesh, development is concentrated only in the city of Hyderabad. Any graduate, whether he be from Vizag, Warangal or Anantapur inevitably has to come to Hyderabad for a good job and career.
Against this backdrop, Hyderabad would be the common capital of the regions for a period of ten years after which it would be the sole capital of Telangana.
Can Seemandhra people construct a similar capital in just 10 years? No way, especially considering how corrupt modern day politicians are!
Hence it is justifiable that Seemandhra regions get a generous financial package as they would no longer have access to the revenues of Hyderabad after 10 years, which accounts for 55% of the total revenue of the State.
The fight of the Telangana leaders is for a separate state and they are on the verge of getting that. What is mystifying now is the demand of the TRS leaders, not to give any package to Seemandhra and instead allot the same package also to Telangana.
This is downright arrogance! Why should they be concerned about what kind of package the Seemandhra region gets when they are getting their State?
Instead of being happy at realizing their supposedly ‘great and noble’ vision of a separate state, they are crying now over packages to Seemandhra and trying to disrupt that as well.
This only goes to prove their inherent jealousy and incompetence which they try to mask in the name of ‘colonialism’ by the Seemandhra people.
The Seemandhra people have never taken the law and order into their hands for they were the votaries of a united Telugu land.
But having gained a separate state, if the Telangana leaders try to scuttle the development packages for Seemandhra people, then they will have to witness the ‘other side’ of the Seemandhra people.
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s dialogue in Simha would aptly reflect the mindset of the Seemandhra people now: Choodu, Oka vaipe Choodu, rendo vaipu choodalanukoku.
