It is not so easy for anybody to undertake marathon walk for six months, unless one is physically and mentally strong. And to keep one’s body fit, one has to maintain a healthy and balanced diet.
And that is what YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is doing now. Normally, too, Jagan is very careful about his diet and is health-conscious.
Unlike the youth of his age, Jagan does not lead a haphazard life style and consume untimely and unhealthy food. And he doesn’t touch alcohol at all, forget about smoking.
Now that he has embarked on padayatra, Jagan has been maintaining a very disciplined lifestyle.
He gets up at 4.30 am every day, does rigorous physical exercise and yoga for one hour. For his breakfast, he takes just a glass of fruit juice to keep his body light.
The menu for his lunch comprises a pulka with dal and green vegetables. And for dinner, Jagan takes a pulka, dal and green vegetables, besides an egg and milk. That is precisely why he keeps healthy body and can withstand long walks besides speaking loudly for hours.
His father late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, too, adopted this simple diet formula during his padayatra. Otherwise, he was a good lover of food. He also used to booze a little. Though he used to smoke in his early days, he gave up after becoming a serious politician.
And Jagan’s bête noire Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, too, practices healthy life style even at the age of 68. He gets up early at around 4 am and practises Yoga.
He takes oats for breakfast in the form of upma or dosas. Between breakfast and lunch, he would have a fruit or some dry fruits. For lunch, Naidu would have only millets such as jowar, bajra, ragi and oats with 2 or 3 vegetables.
In the evening, he would some small snack – either fruits or dry fruits or egg white or soup. And he would have a glass of milk at bed time.
“I strictly follow diet restrictions, which help me keep fit throughout the day. I sleep just for five to six hours day,” he said.
