Heads You Win, Tails I Lose

Heads You Win, Tails I Lose

This pretty much sums up the position of ‘Shiv Sena’supremo, Uddhav Thackeray currently.

The BJP under the new dispensation of Modi and Amit Shah is willing to respect its allies but has made it clear that it would not go out of its way to please or appease anyone.

After being in the opposition for fifteen years, the cadre of Shiva Sena were really ecstatic with their Party’s showing in the recent elections, in alliance with the BJP.

Naturally many seniors expected to be inducted into the Union Cabinet or the State Ministry which is still to be formed.

Uddhav himself entertained hopes for the CM chair in Maharashtra, but the BJP being the majority Party put its foot down and said a resounding ‘No’.

Naturally, the rift between the BJP and ‘Shiv Sena’ can only harm the ‘Shiv Sena’. Why? If the Shiv Sena fails to arrive at an understanding with the ‘BJP’ then there are many aspirants in the wing who tired of being in the opposition again are ready to join the BJP.

Suresh Prabhu is a classic example. If Uddhav bows down to the BJP, the latter would emerge winner in this war of ‘egos’; if he doesn’t toe the BJP line, he stands in danger of witnessing major ‘Shiv Sainiks’ defect to the BJP. Surely, not a nice position to be in!
