Has KCR accumulated so much wealth?

Has KCR accumulated so much wealth?

The sensational statement made by senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai about the ambitious plan of Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has triggered an uproar in political circles.

According to Rajdeep, KCR had told his close aides in a private conversation that he would bear the election expenditure of all the opposition parties in the country if he were made the chairman of the opposition alliance.

But the veteran journalist said there would be no takers for KCR as there are too many aspirants to lead the opposition front against the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Rajdeep’s comments are being taken seriously by political circles because he is one of the most credible journalists in the country. He cannot be considered a pro-BJP or pro-Modi journalist because he has been vociferously opposing the BJP.

Secondly, he doesn’t make such statements without getting credible information. That is why his comments have created a sensation in all sections of the media.

If what Rajdeep said is true, then KCR must have made thousands of crores in the last nine years, and he is now trying to use the money to fulfill his national ambitions.

“He must have got huge ill-gotten money, and that is why he has offered to fund the election expenditure of all parties in the world,” a BJP leader observed.

According to an estimate, it would require no less than Rs 15-20,000 crore for the political parties to spend on their candidates in the next parliamentary elections. So, KCR must be stinkingly rich to spend so much money on all the parties to fulfill his ambition of becoming the Prime Minister.

The way he is spending money on touring states, addressing public meetings of BRS in neighboring states, admitting leaders into the party left, right, and center, and even buying his own chartered flight shows how much wealth he had amassed in the last nine years.

However, one wonders whether the northern parties would ever accept KCR as their leader irrespective of the money he spends. The BRS won’t be able to get more than 10 Lok Sabha seats and will remain a small player.

“A party like TMC, which can win more than 30-35 seats, and DMK with nearly 40 MP seats, can never accept KCR as their boss. They may make him the convener of the opposition front by taking his money but would not allow him to become PM,” an analyst said.
