As the elections to the Andhra Pradesh state assembly are fast approaching, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre has started leaking news to appease the voters of the state and douse their anger.
Apparently realising that the proposed privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is going to be a major electoral issue in the coming elections, the Centre has decided to put on hold the exercise, if not completely dropped.
But the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are trying to give the impression that the centre has withdrawn the proposal, only to pacify the agitating employees and people of Visakhapatnam.
On Wednesday, BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao announced that the privatisation of Visakhapatnam steel plant had been stopped.
Talking to media persons here, he said that in fact, privatisation of the plant did not begin at all and it would not happen in the near future as the intention was to help the plant make profits.
The MP also said that the express train from Varanasi to Visakhapatnam would be introduced on November 22 and it would be a boon to those who want to visit the pilgrim centre.
“I will try to make efforts towards expediting all Central projects,” he stated and alleged that the Jagan government was neglecting the working class.
If the state government could not run the ESI hospitals, it should hand them over to the Centre, he said.
