Minister for School Education and Seemandhra Legislators Forum Convener S Sailajanath on Tuesday sought to knonw whether the Centre had abolished or intended to abolish the law that facilitated the formation of States on linguistic basis.
Speaking to media at the Congress Legislature Party office, Sailajanath said that Andhra Pradesh was the first State which was constituted on linguistic basis.
When the Centre had decided to divide the Andhra Pradesh, it must clarify whether it would abolish the law that led to its formation.
He also said that the resolution by the concerned Legislative Assembly was important to divide a State.
However, he said that there was no progress on convening the session of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly to debate the bifurcation.
Sailajanath also dismissed the Rayala-Telangana proposal stating that the idea was not new. He said that the formation of Rayala-Telangana was practically not possible.
Admitting that Rayalaseema region was most backward, he said its development was possible only in united Andhra Pradesh. He said that the division of State would only incite regional feelings among Telugu people and harm them in the longer run. Further, he said that the division was not an easy task.
