“Rahul Gandhi’s tour of Adilabad to meet the farmers is a publicity stunt and nothing more. The suicides of farmers started during the regime of the UPA and have been going on. Also, an image is being created as if the suicides of farmers are taking place only in Telangana. It is the UPA who is responsible for these deaths,” said Harish Rao.
These are completely irresponsible statements by Harish Rao. They might have started during the Congress rule according to his logic, but that is why the farmers voted for TRS.
So, why are they continuing suicides now in greater numbers after the formation of Telangana under the TRS regime? And is it alright if the suicides take place all across the country and not just Telangana? Harish Rao is indirectly saying that Telangana is not the only misgoverned state in the country.
If suicides are taking place in other states too, it is the responsibility of the government of those respective states. You simply cannot allow the situation in your own state to deteriorate on that basis.
