Bharatiya Janata Party official spokesman and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao, who hit the national headlines with his hard-hitting speech in the Upper House the other day, served a privilege notice against Telugu Desam Party leaders on Monday.
GVL sent the notice to Rajya Sabha Secretariat alleging that the TDP leaders had threatened him with dire consequences if he continued to counter their party on the special category status issue and other issues pertaining to the implementation of AP Reorganisation Act.
“They used intimidating language against me. They even said: “Khabardar… if you continue to oppose our demand,” he said in the complaint.
GVL also submitted clippings of print and electronic media records to prove how the TDP leaders had threatened him.
“After I exposed the hollowness of the TDP MPs’ arguments on the AP bifurcation act during my 45-minute speech in Rajya Sabbha, they got panicky. That is why they started indulging in threatening acts,” the MP said.
GVL made a powerful speech in Rajya Sabha last week attacking the TDP leaders and countering each and every point raised by them during a short-notice discussion on AP bifurcation act.
It won him a lot of appreciation from several quarters, though the opposition leaders had strongly resisted his arguments.
