Gossip: How can RGV help Jagan?

The sudden meeting of maverick film director Ram Gopal Varma with YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s Tadepalli residence on Wednesday afternoon evoked a lot of curiosity among the political and media circles.

Varma, who reached Tadepalli camp office at around 3 pm was taken into Jagan’s chamber through a side entrance, so as to avoid the attention of the other visitors. In fact, his visit remained suspense till the eleventh hour.

According to YSRC sources, Varma had a half-an-hour meeting with Jagan and the details were completely kept secret. Neither the CMO or Varma had leaked any of the information about their meeting.

Naturally, such a secret meeting has led to a lot of speculations in the media as to what both would have discussed.

One speculation is that Jagan might have asked Varma to make a film on the three capitals issue, exposing the land scams of the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Amaravati.

Since Varma is known for making films on such controversial topics, Jagan could have entrusted the work to him.

Earlier, the director had made two films – “Lakshmi’s NTR” and “Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Redlu” (Which was later renamed as Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa biddalu), which were a direct attack on TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

Another talk that is doing rounds in the media is that Jagan might have sought RGV’s help to target actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan through social media. Since Varma has huge follower base on the social media, his tweets attacking Pawan would have great impact, sources said.

There is also a talk that Jagan might have asked RGV to mobilise the film industry support to the YSRC ahead of the coming assembly elections.

Though Jagan has granted a lot of favours to the Telugu film industry, there is not much reciprocation from the industry in favour of the government; instead, it is still favouring the TDP indirectly.

So, one cannot rule out any of these speculations. But the real reason will come out only if Varma discloses the same, as Jagan will anyway doesn’t reveal anything.
