The GoM has made some vital recommendations regarding Telangana to the Central government.
The buzz in political circles is that one of their primary recommendations was to declare Hyderabad as a Union Territory.
By demanding that the city be made a Union Territory for the next 10 years, GoM seems to be trying to bring down the curtains on the contentious Telangana issue.
It is heard that the Seemandhra leaders are putting pressure to this effect.
The GoM also put forth a recommendation that the finances for funding the new state capital should be borne by the Central government.
They also categorically mentioned that the revenue streams of both the states should be considered before distributing the finances.
While these recommendations are likely to provide some solace to the Seemandhra leaders, it will surely disappoint those pitching for a separate Telangana state.
Especially, the MPs, MLAs and ministers from the Telangana region are bound to oppose it. We will have to see what provisions will be made to appease them.
