The ruling Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) is making swift moves to dealt a major blow to Congress in Telangana State ahead of ensuing GHMC elections and MLC polls under local quota.
After encouraging defections from Telugu Desam, Congress and YSRCP by admitting several MLAs of these parties into TRS, the TRS party leadership has now set its eyes on admitting bigwigs of Congress.
TRS party sources said senior Congress leaders and former ministers J Geeta Reddy, Mukesh Goud and Danam Nagender are all set to quit Congress to join TRS anytime soon.
The TRS top leadership are already in talks with these three leaders and an announcement in this regard is expected very soon.
The TRS is trying to rope in Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud in view of ensuing GHMC elections. The party feels that the induction of both these strong leaders from Hyderabad would enhance the winning prospects of TRS in GHMC polls.
It may be noted that both these leaders are keeping away from Congress party activities ever since they lost Assembly elections in 2014.
Similary, Geeta Reddy too is said to be upset with Congress for ignoring her and giving importance to leaders who are decades junior to her while making party appointments.
The TRS is trying to cash in on this situation and take Geeta Redddy into TRS fold.
