Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday virtually humiliated party MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani by denying him a chance to initiate debate on the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government that will come up for discussion in Lok Sabha on Friday.
It was Kesineni who served the notice on the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan a couple of days ago seeking to move a no-confidence motion against the Centre.
And while admitting the notice in the House, Mahajan announced that the chance to initiate the debate would be given to Kesineni.
While Kesineni was getting ready to speak in the House and gathering all the data, Naidu gave him a rude shock by telling him that he would not be able to do justice to the debate as he was not very articulate.
He announced that the debate would be initiated by Guntur MP Galla Jayadev, whose speech during the budget session had drawn appreciation from several opposition parties.
Kesineni felt humiliated and shocked. He expressed his disappointment with the boss, but could not oppose the decision.
At one stage, he decided to stay away from the debate, but Naidu told him that he would take part in the debate when the TDP gets a second chance during the debate.
“Kesineni and Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu would speak when the party gets a second turn,” he said. The TDP with 17 members would get three chances during the debate.
Meanwhile, defected YSRC MLA Kothapalli Geetha from Araku also appealed to the Speaker to give her a chance to speak in the House. Mahajan gave her a favourable response.
It is not clear whether she would get a chance as an independent or as a YSRC MP, as she continues to the party MP as per the records.
