Former Maoist ideologue and revolutionary singer Gaddar did not get the support of any opposition party for his proposal to contest against Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Gajwel, as the Congress has already pitched a strong leader Vanteru Pratap Reddy from there.
Yet, Gaddar did not lose his interest in contesting the elections. On Thursday, he virtually threw a bombshell on the Congress party saying he has decided to contest as an independent against KCR in Gajwel.
“I will contest as an independent candidate to defeat autocratic KCR. I don’t belong to any political party,” he said.
Stating that he had met Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi to express his solidarity towards the secularistic party.
He said he would also campaign in tribal areas in Adilabad from November 15 to give emphasis on exercising franchise by the voters.
He sought police protection during his election campaign in the state for ensuing elections. He wrote a letter to DGP seeking police protection and also stated he will begin election campaign after receiving a letter from the police department.
Gaddar also said that he will showcase the lives of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have changed after the reservation system.
