Apparently realizing that the Centre is firm on dividing the State, the Seemandhra leaders have decided to draw maximum benefits from the Centre to the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation.
Union ministers from Seemandhra attended the meeting of Group of Ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde, Jairam Ramesh and Veerappa Moily in New Delhi on Wednesday evening just before finalizing the draft bill.
These leaders had insisted on 10 more amendments to the bill during the war room meet on late Tuesday evening.
The amendments included UT status to Hyderabad, share of revenues from Hyderabad to Seemandhra and inclusion of Bhadrachalam division in Seemandhra among others.
The leaders who met the GoM included Pallam Raju, Killi Kruparani, V Kishore Chandra Deo, JD Seelam and Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy. The GoM would meet again on Thursday to finalise the issue.
