Guntur: The farmers in the capital zone of Andhra Pradesh are split into various groups. It is a known fact that the government is doing the ground work to start the process of land acquisition through land pooling.
Setting aside their political affiliations, farmers with high-yielding farm lands are wary of parting with their land while those with less-yielding lands are more than willing to be a part of the land pooling process.
Congress MLA Rudraraju Padmaraju has revealed that these were the findings by the committee that toured the area under the aegis of APCC ex minister Ramachandraiah.
He opined that all would be well if the government promised the farmers gains after five to ten years and accordingly gave them some compensation in lieu of land right now. However, there have been reports that there were demonstrations in Tullur where people shouted slogans calling out ‘Ramachandraiah go back’.
While it is being said that a few people with vested interests instigated people to hold such demonstrations, Padmaraju said that some villages were not willing to part with their lands as a part of land pooling process.
Meanwhile, nearly 400 farmers came forward to give away their land in Nelapadu village and they also signed the necessary documents.
