“We are a new government lacking in administrative experience. So please give us some time to settle down,” said KCR on one occasion.
This is a completely unacceptable excuse for by the time the government feels it is comfortably settled down; hundreds of lives may be lost due to their incompetence.
First, it was on the ‘Health front’ on which the TRS government failed miserably. Despite loss of lives on a daily basis to swine flu and major warnings from all prominent ‘dailies’, the Telangana government said that the deaths due to swine flu were zero.
Following a backlash from the media and an alarming increase in the number of deaths, the TRS government made Rajaiah the scape goat by sacking him as the ‘Health Minister’, yet the epidemic could not be controlled.
Deaths due to swine flu still continue to be reported on a daily basis, but sadly, the public has become immune to such news.
Now, the second instance is the one involving the encounter of the ‘SIMI terrorists’ in Nalgonda who had shot dead a constable and home guard in Suryapet.
After the Suryapet incident, despite the media and even the Central government declaring that it was in all likelihood, the work of terrorists, the DGP gave a statement saying that it was the acts of an inter-state gang of dacoits.
The DGP would not have given out such a statement without approval from the CM. And the result? When news of unknown persons (terrorists)hiding in a village was made available, the unsuspecting CI sent a constable and SI to deal with the situation resulting in the death of the latter and severe life threatening injuries to the SI.
Had the DGP accepted that these people were in fact terrorists in the face of such overwhelming evidence, the CI who incidentally bravely gunned down the terrorists, would not have sent his staff to take on the deadly duo, but would have probably sought the help of the Greyhounds or anti-terrorist squad.
How many lives will have to be lost for the government and KCR to settle down? The government has to deliver right from day one, whether it has administrative experience or not.
