The GHMC elections have brought in new tensions with the changed equations.
Many sitting candidates were given the ticket to contest again and some sitting MLAs also could get the ticket for their family members to contest. Out of them many have lost the election. This is sending a new tension wave among the sitting MLAs who are expecting the ticket in the general election.
The anti incumbency wave on the TRS party has shown more detrimental effect with the involvement and representation of the sitting MLAs as well as the sitting corporators in the GHMC elections. Had there been more new faces, the situation would have been different, is the opinion of KTR that has come in the review meeting.
If the situation is like this within the first five to six years of the TRS government, by the coming general elections, the anti incumbency wave will be worse.
If this opinion tranforms as a decision for the next elections, then many sitting MLAs may have to leave their power dreams. But it is not an easy task for TRS to keep all sitting MLAs away and opt for new faces in the coming elections. Since BJP is in swing, it may pull all such disappointed sitting MLAs into the party. That will be more detrimental for the TRS.
On a whole, GHMC results are going to be the game changer in Telangana politics in the coming years.
