Speaking at a seminar organized by NABARD, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chanrababu Naidu said that there was an immediate need to mechanize agriculture besides conducting skill development programmes for farmers to make agriculture profitable.
The CM’s remarks run contrary to the spirit of his activities in recent times. After acquiring fertile agricultural lands for the new capital on a scale unprecedented in history, he is continuing with the same policy by earmarking 15000 acres for an airport in Bhogapuram and lands elsewhere for other fanciful projects.
There is nothing wrong in the government acquiring lands for development but why fertile agriculture lands and that too when other options are available? Hence his remarks on the need to mechanize agriculture do not make sense.
Why mechanize agriculture, Sir, when judging by the pace and scale of your government’s land acquisitions, there would not be any more land left for cultivation?
