In a historic moment for the RSS, the ‘Vijayadasami Speech’ of RSS Head, Mohan Bhagwat was telecast live from its Nagpur headquarters by the government owned, ‘Doordarshan’.
This is perhaps the first official accreditation given to the RSS by the BJP and is also a subtle pointer to the real power structure behind the BJP.
In his speech, Mohan Bhagwat praised the Modi government saying that it was moving in the right direction and asked the people to give it time.
“There is no magic wand to cure the problems of so many years overnight. The new government is not even six months old. We should give it time,” said Bhagwat.
Objections
The CPI-M Friday criticized the government for telecasting live the annual speech of the RSS chief on Doordarshan, saying this shows "how the public broadcaster is being misused".
The Communist Party of India-Marxist said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat used "the occasion to propagate its Hindutva ideology".
"The national public broadcaster has no business to telecast live the speech of the chief of an organisation like the RSS," a CPI-M statement said.
"Such an action shows how the public broadcaster is being misused by the Modi government."
