School children and teachers in Andhra Pradesh are bewildered. The government has issued a circular asking them all to pay Rs 10 each towards construction of new capital.
The CM says the move will help inculcate a sense of ownership. Interestingly, the circular copy has been marked as ‘MOST URGENT’.
The government hopes to raise about Rs 7.5 crore through this move. A special bus was built for Chandrababu Naidu recently at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore.
The Andhra CM’s bus is equipped with features such as a sofa-bed, satellite phone, foldable platform and conference room.
It also has a lift (for Naidu to address gatherings from the bus top) apart from being landmine proof and can survive blasts, gunshots and extreme temperatures. Whew!!!
Whether the money donated by the school children and teachers will help pay for Amaravathi or not, we do not know, but they will certainly cover the payment of Naidu’s bus.
The Chief Minister should be ashamed of himself. Instead of fighting for the promised specials status which would easily solve all the problems of the state, he is making young children and teachers pay for his own incompetence.
