With GHMC elections around the corner, MLAs who had defected from TDP to TRS due to pressure or need or for growth are now a worried lot.
It is known that Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, Teegala Krishna Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao and Talasaani Srinivasa Yadav had defected to TRS from TDP some time back.
Well, KCR had his plans for the defectors as GHMC elections were around the corner. For starters, it would weaken TDP and to use them during the MLC elections. Though TRS has successfully used them for both purposes, GHMC elections continue to be an issue for the party.
So, TRS insiders say that the defecting MLAs are concerned about their role in the party as both TRS and TDP workers haven’t been approaching them.
Added to that, while they have been used for certain tasks, their standing in the party isn’t substantial and this has become a cause for concern among them.
Meanwhile, there is talk that when a MLA fails to ensure his corporator’s success, then it reflects his own failure to a certain extent.
While the TDP MLAs maintain that neither the local leaders nor the grass-root level workers changed party along with defecting MLAs in Kukatpally and Sanathnagar, Teegala and Manchireddy have been requesting their detractors not to make negative remarks about them.
On the other hand, the TDP MLAs are of the opinion that people would vote for the defecting MLAs as they are now part of the ruling TRS party.
