Danam Nagender was the translator for Rahul Gandhi’s speech at the latter’s second public meeting in Hyderabad.
It was a poor selection for Danam himself is not very comfortable with the Telugu language and was clearly struggling with the translation.
Shravan who recently joined the Congress was the translator for Rahul’s first speech and he did a far better job. But a section of the Congress was unhappy at a new comer being given such prominence and hence Danam got the opportunity.
During the speech, Rahul said that all T-shirts and sandals nowadays were carrying the tag of ‘Made in China’. If the Congress came to power, they would carry the tag of ‘Made in Hyderabad’.
Danam was interpreting this as ‘Made in Telangana’ whereupon Rahul corrected him and made him say, ‘Made in Hyderabad’. This has once again given rise to a sneaking suspicion that Congress would make Hyderabad, a Union Territory if it is not voted to power. Anything is possible with Congress!
