Fact Sheet: A very valid question

One very valid question being posed by the farmers to the TDP government is with respect to the credibility of the latter.

It is common knowledge that undue pressure is being put on the farmers to part with their lands for the construction of a new capital under the ‘land pooling’ scheme.

The government has initially promised an allowance for a certain period and then they would become partners in the land once the ‘capital’ is developed. All this sounds very fine on paper.

But the farmers say: “How can we trust the TDP? Did they not promise us complete loan waiver and what have they done to date? Nothing! So, what is the guarantee that they will live up to their promises once we part with our lands?”

This is one very valid question indeed! This argument in any court of law can put paid to the hopes of the government to acquire lands for its grandiose schemes.
