Speculations over Y S Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, floating a new party in Telangana continue to make rounds in a section of media circles, despite denial by her a few days ago.
It is like just kite-flying by the media, though there has not even been a hint about Sharmila’s new party, if at all there is anything in her mind.
Some speculations say she has registered her party name as YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) and some othhs say it would be named as Telangana YSR Congress.
Not just that, this section of media has also started speculation as to who all might join her new party.
The name that is being talked about is that of former Khammam MP and industrialist Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
In 2014, Ponguleti got elected to Lok Sabha from Khammam on YSR Congress ticket but joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi within no time and has been continuing there.
He was not given the ticket again in 2019 elections and has been completely sidelined sincne then.
There was a talk that he might jump into the BJP but now, with the reports of Sharmila launching a new party are doing rounds, the name of Ponguleti has come up as the potential leader joining her party.
Lending credence to these reports was the statement of Ponguleti a couple of days ago that birds which left the nest would have to come back to the same nest. Apparently, he was hinting at returning to the YSRC.
Since the YSRC has almost become defunct in Telangana, he might be contemplating joining hands with Sharmila, it is rumoured.
