Contrary to the speculations and expectations in the political circles in Andhra Pradesh that retired IPS officer and former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Laxminarayana is most unlikely to join active politics, let alone becoming a force to reckon with in the state.
One does not know why he has retired from his prestigious IPS service, but sources close to him say he has realised that politics is not his cup of tea.
Instead, he would like to focus, at least for the time being, on NGO activities and slowly build up his image within the people.
“May be in the long run, he will take to politics. But his main objective for now is to get an identity among the common people, particularly farmers, so that it would help him in developing his political clout,” a source said.
As part of his service activity, Laxminarayana has now started a new programme called “Vandemataram Paura Seva” (Vandemataram public service) to extend service to the needy.
He wants to set up such centres across the state, starting with Vizianagaram, which would help people availing of government services. He would involve retired employees and youth in extending the services.
He said the people, especially farmers, were not able to avail the welfare schemes being launched by the government and they were not in a position to meet the tahsildar to avail the services.
Laxminarayana expressed concern that political leaders are considering people as voters only. Leaders are spending crores of rupees to win elections and recovering money by swindling public money.
He also said that he has been visiting every district only to study the living standards of people and to know how the people are struggling to lead their lives.
