Causing further embarrassment to the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, a senior party leader from Telangana Eraballi Dayakar Rao has made some sensational comments.
He said that Naidu would certainly vote in favour of the Telangana bill whenever it comes up before the Assembly. He dropped another bombshell, saying that a separate Telangana unit of TDP would be formed.
Dayakar Rao, who has now emerged as the most prominent Telangana face of the party after the exit of Kadiyam Srihari and Nagam Janardhan Reddy, has also demanded suspension of senior Seemandhra leader Payyavula Keshan from the party for his remarks against the Telangana statehood cause.
Keshav has violated the party discipline by moving the Supreme Court, challenging the Centre's decision to carve out separate Telangana state.
By claiming that Naidu would vote in favour of the Telangana bill, he has caused a stir in the political circles.
This is despite the fact that Naidu himself has been avoiding getting himself into the debate on Telangana.
In fact, he has been struggling hard to gain the acceptance of the people of Seemandhra region by taking up their concerns and apprehensions.
The TDP supremo would not like to take any side when the Telangana bills comes up in the Assembly.
The party is also unlikely to attend the all-party meeting on Telangana being convened by the Union Home Ministry in Delhi early next month. In all probability, the TDP will demand a meeting between the Joint Action Committees of both the regions to sort out issues arising out of the division of the state.
