Government employees are annoyed by the recent circular issued which ordered all employees to shift to Vijayawada by June 1.
Terming the circular, a ‘unilateral’ one, the employees wanted to know how the government could issue the circular without taking them into confidence and eliciting their opinion first.
They vowed to oppose the circular tooth and nail. The major objections being raised by the employees are:
“Without identifying the location of offices how can any employee relocate his family? We don't know where the offices are located. But the circular says that we should make arrangements for the transfer. We also need to look for good educational institutions for our children.”
“We have old parents who require sophisticated medical attention which is only available in Hyderabad.”
“We cannot relocate our children if they are pursuing medicine or engineering as inter-university transfer is not allowed.”
“Why do we need to shift to Vijayawada when Hyderabad is the common capital for ten years?”
“There is no clarity over local status of our children and issues like house rent allowance (HRA) are not sorted out yet. Without any discussion it is not proper to force employees to move to Vijayawada.”
Right from day one of the state being divided, Naidu has been exhorting the employees to shift to the new capital region. 18 months later, are they still mentally unprepared for the transition?
They would not take no for an answer and forced the government to give them a hike of 43% fitment despite knowing fully well that AP was in a bad shape.
But when it comes to making a few sacrifices for the new AP, they come up with countless reasons to avoid temporary hardships.
The sad thing about these employees is that even if they are asked to shift after 10 years, they would be giving the same reasons.
