Prior to independence, it was people like Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and Rabindranath Tagore who took the lead in establishing educational institutions that thrive even to this day. Their objective was to groom future India in the right direction. More importantly, their work survived because they were men of outstanding character.
In the new India, you get all kinds of cheats, scoundrels and 420’s in the education business with a purely commercial objective.
With their gains from this field they even go on to become MP’s and MLA’s and subvert the system for their own needs.
Malkajgiri Lok Sabha MP Ch Malla Reddy on Thursday was left red-faced during the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) meeting after a ward member revealed that the former had laid a sewer line to his function hall by violating rules and regulations of the Cantonment Act.
He said the MP got the SCB to lay a sewer line from his function hall, Mallareddy Function Hall at Bowenpally, and connected it to the sewer main of a nearby residential colony (Soujanya Colony) by digging up the road without a board resolution.
“The SCB authorities had imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000 and threatened criminal case against a resident for laying sewer line without permission. As law is equal to all, I demand the SCB to probe the allegation and register a criminal case and impose penalty on the MP “, Ramakrishna added.
