One does not know how far the promises made by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would be implementable, but one of his promises he had made certainly brought cheers among a section of people.
Announcing his mini-election manifesto, Jagan announced that he would increase the financial assistance to women groups from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per month. This may not be a big burden on the government, if implemented properly.
Naturally, it came as a pleasant news for the DWCRA groups women, who are now feeling cheated by the Chandrababu Naidu government which has failed to implement his pre-election promise of waiving their loans.
A quick survey among the self-help group women revealed that they were confident that Jagan would fulfil his promise.
Pointing out that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had promised many things but so far has not fulfilled any of them, they said that former CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy's policies had benefited them and are waiting to get the same benefits from Jagan.
The DWAKRA women stated that Rs 50,000 was given per woman in the group which in turn got Rs 5 lakh during the YSR rule which however, was not followed by Chandrababu.
They hoped that Jagan would be the next Chief Minister to fulfil his promise.
