The outcome of the Municipal elections in the State has come as a big surprise to political observers, who have all the while predicting a wave in favour of YSR Congress party in Seemandhra and Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana region.
Though neutral observers predicted that the TDP and the YSR Congress party would put up a neck-to-neck fight in Seemandhra, and Congress and TRS in Telangana, the municipal election results have given them a shock.
The TDP completely swept the Seemandhra region by winning around 60 out of 92 municipalities and four corporations, restricting the YSR Congress party to just around 18 municipalities and two Corporations.
Similarly, in Telangana region, the Congress won 20 out of 53 municipalities and might nearly win another 10 municipalities, where there was a keen contest. It restricted the TRS to just 11 municipalities.
Now, the results have thrown up an interesting question: whether voters would think differently in different elections. All said and done, the results in 92 municipalities in Seemandhra region reflect the mood of urban and semi-urban voters in as many Assembly constituencies.
Unless there is a completely different thinking among rural voters, which would any way reflect in the ZPTC and MPTC election results to be declared on Tuesday, the results in general elections would be more or less same.
So, it will really be interesting to know whether the outcome of local elections and general elections would be completely different or not.
