After 69 days of turmoil in Seemandhra region against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the Congress central leadership appears to be waking up from its deep slumber.
They seem to be acknowledging the gravity of the situation and making efforts, though feeble, to reach out to the enraged people in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra region.
The AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, on Monday tweeted about the ongoing mass agitation in Seemandhra and, for the first time, spoke about the financial package for the region.
He also appealed for calling off the ongoing strike in view of the hardship being cause to the people.
At the same time, Singh made it amply clear that the UPA could not go back on its decision to create separate Telangana state.
The decision to divide the state was taken after prolonged deliberations and consultations and only after all the major political parties gave their consent to the formation of Telangana state.
Singh tweeted: "We will look into genuine concerns of Seemandhra people in Hyderabad. Their education, health, employment and other needs will be taken care of. There will be a package for development. I appeal to AP Govt employees to suspend their strike and resume their duties. They are losing their salaries and causing hardship to people."
