Media these days is full of strange stories, which they claim are completely true. Of late, the media is full of stories where some old people have died after being denied pensions in Telangana and Andhra.
There have been reports of trouble in Telangana regarding the issue.
The Congress party leaders have questioned the concerned authorities in Khammam regarding the issue of pensions and there was a subsequent showdown.
Similarly, the situation turned chaotic in Mahbubnagar’s Vanaparthi and there was a story which claimed that an old man died in Nalgonda after he didn’t get his pension.
The situation is no different in Andhra Pradesh. The media reported the death of an old man who is said to have died after not receiving his monthly pension.
According to yet another story, an old man in Chirala is said to have slapped himself with a slipper for having voted for Chandra Babu Naidu during the 2014 elections. The story was carried along with a photograph.
On one hand, the government officials have been claiming that they have increased the pension by five times and on the other, the people who have been denied pensions are reacting in various ways.
While we are not sure about the truth in all the reports appearing in media, it is clear that the stories are being twisted and tweaked according to the region and other social, political reasons.
